A great way to spice up your decorations for your 50th birthday without looking like a kid party is with a simple trick. Forget about streamers and posters, that's not for you. You want a nice polished and extinguished look. This can be accomplished with wall lights. On amazon they sell for pennies, so buy a bunch and go nuts. You can use them over and over again. Just don't lend them out, they may go home with someone as a parting gift. Enjoy your event, and I hope its with us.
I have two words for you "common sense." Remember when you do an event you are "PERSONALLY" responsible for everyone that attends. Bottom line, you know your people and you understand how they act. Some event for example an early Kid party is the exception. Event that evolve teens or adults consuming alcohol should have security to minimize your personal responsibility. I know you love your family and have their best interest in mind, so please do what you can to protect them even if you are protecting them from themselves. You that uncle that looses it when he has too much. If he hurts a non family member you can have a law suit on your hand. Thanks for reading and enjoy your events and be safe.
A great way to have a clean looking party without the extra clutter or unnecessary calamity is having an awesome cake table. This wonderment must be in the line of site when your guests walk into the venue. This will make them feel festive even though you guest tables only have table clothes and fitting center piece. Nothing like an illusion that is easy on the pocket. Now you are looking good and feeling good about your investment in your family and friends. That table will be in all the photos, poses and don't forget selfies lol. Enjoy :)

A new craze for teen and preteen parties is glow sticks. The picture above knocks it up a notch with glow decorations to illuminate the table settings and walls. This idea is very affordable and will look really cool to the kids. You will have to search online to find the best deals. good luck!
Whether a party should be done at night or during the day depends on so many factors, but the most important one is you. Its your party and you can day or night if you want too. The next factor to consider is whether anyone will show up to what you like. I can give you a basic guidelines to help you make an informed decision. First factor is age, the young below 30 love late night events, while the older with families tend to lean on evening "the not to early and not to early I have things to do." Then you have the elderly they do not play after the sun goes down, so after or you will get a no show. If you are catering for children you are actually catering to their parents so Saturday or Sunday afternoon is like your only options. I hope that information is helpful when it comes time for you to make a decision.
It's your party and you should dance if you want too. Having a Dj is like having a scripted show, so make sure they know the tunes that makes you shuffle and slide. Not every event needs a Dj but if you plan on tearing up the dance floor don't leave home without one. The DJ sets the tone and musical theme for your event, it is their profession to comb through thousands of songs and pick the ones that would make you smile. My best recommendation is have the DJ create a play list before your event and have you sign off on it.
Your big day is here! You have planned for this for a couple of months. I can see the excitement on your face. As you pack up the last minute material to go to the venue you take a breath of fresh air and it smells like you have never smelled it before. As the taxi pulls up the whole team pulls their weight and packs the vehicle in 5 minutes. Everything is going to plan and the place is looking like a million dollars was spent.
You also took the time to get the best invitations that money can buy so you only invited 30 people because that was the exact amount of people you wanted, no more, no less. An hour and a half goes by and about 10 people show up. Towards the end 9 more people show.
You are totally devastated but still manage to enjoy yourself. The lesson you gained from this experience is invite them all, because only 65%-75% will show.
